ATMA 2026: Dates, Registration, Pattern, and Everything Else You Need

The ATMA exam gives you something most MBA entrance tests do not, i.e. you get multiple chances to appear for the exam in the same admission year, which is not the case with MBA. Conducted by the Association of Indian Management Schools (AIMS), the AIMS test for management admissions runs four to five times a year across February, May, June, and July sessions, meaning a difficult attempt in one session does not affect your eligibility for the next. 

The May 2026 session is already done. The upcoming one is the July exam, with the ATMA exam date 2026 set for July 12. The Basics of the ATMA Exam

The ATMA exam is a national-level computer-based entrance test for admission to MBA, PGDM, MMS, MCA, and PGDBA programmes. It is conducted by AIMS and accepted by over 750 management institutes across India, making it one of the widest-reaching management entrance exams in the country. 

The exam tests candidates across three areas - Analytical Reasoning, Verbal Skills, and Quantitative Skills, each divided into two sub-sections, giving six sections in total. 

Each section contains 30 questions and a 30-minute window, for a total of 180 questions over three hours.

Every correct answer carries +1 mark, and every wrong answer deducts 0.25. Unattempted questions carry no penalty, so leaving a question blank is better than guessing when you have no basis for an answer.

ATMA 2026 Registration Dates, Deadlines, and How to Apply

ATMA exam registration 2026 for the July session is currently open, with the ATMA registration last date 2026 falling on June 30. The fee payment window closes two days before that, on June 28, so both steps need to be completed well ahead of the deadline. Registration and payment are entirely online at atmaaims.com.  However, make sure that you fill out the form correctly, as an incorrect application is rejected without exception. 

For reference, the February 2026 exam was held on February 22, and the May 2026 exam on May 3, with its result announced on May 9.

For registration, you will need to go through four stages:

• Pay the fee on atmaaims.com using your mobile number and email ID. Once payment is confirmed, a Personal Identification Number (PID) is sent via SMS and email. This PID is your login credential for all subsequent steps.
• Fill the application form using your PID. This covers communication address, academic qualifications, work experience, if any, preferred test cities (up to two), and up to five institutes to receive your ATMA scores.
• Upload documents - a scanned passport photograph (20–50 KB, JPEG) and a scanned signature (10–20 KB).
• Print the completed form and keep a copy for exam day.

Once a test centre is assigned in the admit card, it cannot be changed. In exceptional circumstances, a written request may be submitted before the registration deadline, subject to approval and seat availability.

ATMA exam fees are Rs. 2,000 inclusive of GST (non-refundable), paid online through debit card, credit card, net banking, or UPI, but two categories receive concessions.
 

The ATMA exam is conducted across more than 100 cities. Major centres include Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Coimbatore, Dehradun, Delhi NCR, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur, Kolkata, Kochi, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Noida, Pune, Raipur, Ranchi, Surat, Trivandrum, Vadodara, and Visakhapatnam.

What are the Eligibility Criteria for ATMA?

ATMA's eligibility requirements are broad by design - the exam is intended to be accessible to a wide range of candidates across educational backgrounds and career stages.

Candidates who do not meet the 50% minimum aggregate are not permitted to appear, regardless of other qualifications. There is no upper age limit, and no prior work experience is needed, which means the exam is equally accessible to fresh graduates and those re-entering education after time in the workforce.
 

ATMA Syllabus and What to Prepare

AIIMS does not provide a syllabus for ATMA 2026. However, there are topics that students must study for the ATMA exam. The ATMA 2026 questionnaire consists of six sections: Analytical Reasoning (Sections 1 and 2), Quantitative Skills (Sections 1 and 2), and Verbal (Parts 1 and 2)

Analytic Reasoning (Parts I and II) consists of 60 questions on Critical Reasoning. Encryption and decryption justification, arguments, and messages. Sufficiency of information, message, and conclusion. Strong and weak arguments, systems, coherence, etc.

Quantitative Skills (Parts 1 and a couple of) contains 60 questions on mathematics, algebra, cutting-edge mathematics, geometry, quantity systems, averages, percentages, profit, and loss. Ratio and ratio Permutations and mixtures of time, pace, and distance. Quadratic equations, and many others. Equations

The Verbal Skills phase (Parts 1 and a couple of) has 60 questions about subjects including grammar, sentence finishing touch, compound sentences, vocabulary, reading comprehension, phrases, synonyms, and antonyms.
 

Candidates already preparing for CAT or XAT will find significant overlap with the ATMA syllabus. The syllabus overlaps significantly with CAT and XAT, but the difficulty is lower across the board.
 

Downloading Your Admit Card and What to Do on ATMA Exam Day

The ATMA admit card 2026 for the July session will be released on July 8. Registered candidates can download it by logging into atmaaims.com with their PID and password, clicking "Print E-Admit Card," and taking a coloured printout. The admit card is session-specific - one issued for an earlier session is not valid for July.

The ATMA exam will be held from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Reporting to the centre before 1:00 PM is mandatory, as the gates will close at 1:40 PM and no candidate will be admitted thereafter. The documents you must carry on the exam day are:

• Two coloured printouts of the admit card, each with a passport photograph affixed
• A printout of the ATMA application form with a photograph
• Self-declaration form, downloadable from atmaaims.com
• Original government-issued photo ID - Aadhaar, PAN, Passport, Voter ID, or Driving Licence - along with a photocopy
• Ballpoint pen

Electronic devices of any kind, including mobile phones, calculators, and smartwatches, are not allowed inside the hall.
 

Note: Learner's Driving Licence and Ration Card are not valid identity proof for this exam.

Results, Scorecards, and Next Steps After ATMA

The ATMA result 2026 for the July session is expected on July 18. To download your scorecard, log in to atmaaims.com with your PID and password, select the exam date, and click on ATMA Result. 

The scorecard carries scaled scores, section-wise percentiles, and an overall percentile - the numbers you will need when checking cutoffs and deciding where to apply. Download is the official mode; scorecards are not dispatched by post, though a hard copy can be requested if needed.

The ATMA answer key is released on atmaaims.com shortly after each session, so you can cross-check your responses and get a sense of your score before the official result is out. Since all session scores are valid for 2026–27 admissions, a strong result in July carries the same weight as one from February or May when colleges evaluate your application. 

With your scorecard downloaded, check application deadlines at shortlisted institutes, apply to programmes where the window is still open, and begin preparing for GD and PI rounds.
 

How Does ATMA Compare to CAT, MAT, and XAT

For most applicants, ATMA functions alongside MAT as a practical exam that broadens the number of colleges you can apply to without demanding the same depth of preparation as an MBA entrance exam like CAT or XAT.The key difference between ATMA and MAT is the college network. ATMA is accepted by several strong regional and specialised institutes that do not recognise MAT scores, which makes it the broader option for someone applying to multiple colleges. 

Candidates preparing for CAT find that sitting for ATMA in the same cycle adds limited preparation overhead while opening up a substantially larger set of colleges. ATMA also works well as a standalone option. The syllabus is manageable; you have multiple sessions across the year, so no single attempt carries all the pressure, and most candidates reach a competitive score with six to eight weeks of focused preparation.

AIMS does not publish a centralised cutoff. Each participating institute sets its own, and these vary considerably across the network. A score above 70 percentile gives you access to a solid range of private B-schools. Crossing the 80-85 percentile mark will open better-ranked ATMA colleges for MBA, and anything above 85 puts you among the stronger candidates for the most sought-after institutes accepting ATMA scores.
