BITSAT 2026 Session 2 Shift Timings (Complete)

BITSAT is held in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode at specific centers of the country and at some selected centers abroad. Examination takes place in two shifts daily.

Shift 1: Morning Slot (9 AM - 12 PM)

The morning session is from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

The candidate is expected to arrive at 7:30 AM for document and biometric verification and the security process.

Students should get to the centre at least 15 minutes before the reporting time so that they have no last-minute rush.

Shift 2: Afternoon Slot

The afternoon shift starts at 2 P.M. and ends at 5 P.M.

Candidates need to arrive by 12.30 PM. This is a favored slot of many students because it allows them more time to revise before the test starts.

There are a number of verification steps that must be completed prior to this. These are some of the methods: identification, fingerprint matching, photograph matching, and security screening.

Students should try to prepare thoroughly and carry with them only the essentials. Arrive 60 to 90 minutes before the reporting time to remain calm during the reporting process.

Bonus Questions Rule (+96 Marks Potential)

A special aspect of BITSAT is the facility of bonus questions.

If the candidates answer all 130 questions, without leaving any blank, they would be eligible to try 12 more questions. The bonus questions come from Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology.

Additional questions can really help raise scores and give candidates an edge in admissions.

However, once a candidate elects to receive bonus questions, they are not allowed to go back to the 130 original questions. So, students are advised to complete the bonus section only when they are confident in their performance on the main paper.

A candidate might want to try full-length mock tests to determine if there's a value in taking some bonus questions.

BITSAT 2026 Marking Scheme Explained

It is important to know the marking scheme, as it directly impacts your final score.

+3 Correct, -1 Wrong Formula

The marking scheme is simple:

  • Correct answer: +3 marks
  • Incorrect answer: -1 mark
  • Unattempted answer: 0 marks

This system is used to encourage correct answers and discourage blind guessing.

Maximum Score Calculation

There are 390 marks available on the standard paper.

Those who meet the qualifications of bonus questions may earn more points. The students may be able to earn much more than the basic marks, since there are 12 additional questions.

Candidates can choose the examination shift and date for the official BITSAT slot booking session 2 based on availability.

Negative Marking Strategy

To minimise loss of points for negative marking:

  • Avoid blind guessing.
  • Try questions you think you can solve first.
  • Whenever possible use elimination methods.
  • Read questions that you are unsure of thoroughly before submitting them.

A balanced approach generally yields better results than attempting every question without certainty.

BITSAT vs JEE Main Pattern Comparison

Many engineering aspirants tend to study for both exams simultaneously.

Difficulty Level Differences

Generally JEE Main is a more conceptual exam.

The emphasis of BITSAT is given to:

  • Speed
  • Accuracy
  • Time management

It will require that students answer more questions in a relatively short period of time.

Speed vs Accuracy Focus

The time allotted per question is comparatively longer in JEE Main.

BITSAT demands that the candidate process information at high speed and make fast decisions. The key to getting excellent scores can sometimes be efficient time management.

Once the examination is over, the BITSAT session 2 result is displayed temporarily on the computer screen so that the candidate can have an instant idea about the marks scored in the session 2 examination.

Bonus Questions Advantage

The bonus question system is one of the significant advantages of BITSAT.

Unlike JEE Main, after the main paper, there are additional questions that candidates can attempt to earn extra marks. This is a great opportunity for a high-performing student to raise their overall grade.

BITSAT 2026 Session 2 Preparation Strategy

A proper preparation plan is a very effective way to enhance performance.

Time Management for 3-Hour Paper

Candidates are advised to spread their time out across the various sections.

One of the popular tactics is:

  • Physics: 45–50 minutes
  • Chemistry: 35–40 minutes
  • Mathematics: 65–70 minutes
  • English & Logical Reasoning: 20–25 minutes

Through frequent mock exams students build up speed and accuracy within exam conditions.

Section Attempt Order (Pro Tips)

A number of successful candidates do this:

  • English Proficiency
  • Logical Reasoning
  • Chemistry
  • Physics
  • Mathematics

This helps to create momentum and confidence before starting on lengthy calculations.

Candidates who are waiting for BITSAT session 2 slot booking date should use their time to practice as many mock tests as possible and analyse their performance.

Avoiding Negative Marking Traps

To minimise mistakes:

  • Do not stick to any one question.
  • Mark doubtful questions for review.
  • Avoid random guessing.
  • Prioritise high-confidence attempts.

With proper practice and selection of questions, it is possible to boost the final scores.
