What is the MAT Exam?

The MAT Exam (Management Aptitude Test) is a national-level entrance exam conducted by the All India Management Association (AIMA) For Admission to MBA and other Management Programmes in India. PBT

The last MAT May 2026 exam date PBT registration is May 25, 2026. Registration began earlier and remains open as of April 2026. The MAT entrance exam 2026 PBT will be held on May 31, 2026, and the admit card is expected to be released by May 28, 2026.

CBT

The last date to register for the CBT mode exam is June 8, 2026. The registration process started earlier and is ongoing. The MAT entrance exam for the CBT mode will be held on June 14, 2026, and the admit card is expected to be out by June 11, 2026.

IBT

The exam has been discontinued since it was introduced only for COVID-19. Right now, it’s only PBT and CBT exams.

The MAT Syllabus consists of 5 sections, with each having 30 questions. There are a total of 150 MCQs that you need to complete within 120 minutes.

MAT Exam 2026 Mode, Score Range & Cut-off Details

The MAT 2026 examination will be held in the following modes: 

• Paper-based test (PBT) 
• Computer-based test (CBT)
• PBT + CBT
• CBT 1 + CBT 2

You can opt for an extra testing mode by paying the additional fee of Rs 1,600 along with the standard registration fee. Those choosing additional tests will have the advantage of choosing two extra management institutions to send their scores, along with the existing option of choosing five such institutions.

Score Range & Percentile

As far as the MAT scoring systems are concerned, it follows a scaled scoring system. This means your final score is not just based on raw correct answers but is adjusted to maintain fairness across different exam sessions. There are a total of five sections, and for each section, you get a score first, and then these individual scores are combined to produce a composite score ranging from 199 to 801.

How to Apply for the MAT Exam 2026

The MAT 2026 application form for both CBT and PBT modes is the same and can only be filled out online. Follow the steps below to apply for MAT 2026:

1. Visit the AIMA-MAT website: https://mat.aima.in/
2. Click on the 'Register' option.
3. Provide All Required Details like your name, date of birth, email ID, mobile number, state, city, preferred test mode, and password.
4. Use the MAT ID sent via email and phone for authentication.
5. On the next page, choose your preferred test mode (CBT or PBT), test cities, and select five preferred B-Schools.
6. Pay the application fee of INR 2,200 using a debit/credit card, net banking, or e-wallet.
7. Fill in your academic and other details in the MAT 2026 application form.
8. Upload a recent passport-sized photo and a scanned signature.
9. Complete the process by clicking the submit button.
10. An Acknowledgment of your MAT form submission will be sent to your email.
11. Complete the MAT registration 2026 process at https://mat.aima.in with your debit/credit card, UPI, net banking, or UPI wallet (for fee payments)
12. Once it is released, you can download your admit card from the same website (applicant dashboard) 
13. This card will have details of your name, Form number, Roll number, exam date, testing time, venue, etc.
