• Candidates awarded a PhD degree as per UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of PhD Degree) Regulations 2009 are exempt from NET for Assistant Professor recruitment
• Candidates who passed the UGC/CSIR JRF examination before 1989 are also exempt
• Candidates who cleared a UGC-accredited SET before 1 June 2002 are eligible to apply for Assistant Professor anywhere in India; those who cleared SET from 1 June 2002 onwards are eligible only in the state where they cleared the SET

How to Fill the UGC NET 2026 Application Form?

The UGC NET 2026 application form is available exclusively through the University Grants Commission NET website, and the entire UGC NET registration 2026 process is online. Here is how it works step by step:

• Visit ugcnet.nta.nic.in and click the June 2026 application link
• Register with your name, date of birth, mobile number, and email ID to generate an application number
• Log in and complete the form with personal, academic, and exam details; select your subject and preferred exam cities carefully

• Pay the fee online via UPI, net banking, debit card, or credit card
