Key Details about the UPSC Examinations 

The CSE Main exam is set to start on 22 August 2025 onwards. Admit cards for the exam are likely to be released by the UPSC in the final week of September 2025. Applicants will be able to download their admit cards from the official UPSC website. 

The examination will be held at the national level. The selection process for UPSC will be conducted in the following 3-tier manner:

  1. UPSC Prelims (Prelims will require the candidate to attempt two objective-type papers)
  2. UPSC Mains in the written mode (mains will include nine descriptive papers)
  3. UPSC Mains in the verbal mode (Interview/Personality Test) with the UPSC board

Note that the Candidates will be required to clear each stage to progress to the next one. 

The UPSC conducts the national level examinations to recruit candidates into prestigious government roles, including those of IAS, IFS and IPS. The exam-conducting agency handles the recruitment process for both, civil as well as defense services.

About UPSC Recruitment 

The UPSC or Union Public Service Commission conducts exams to recruit candidates for top positions within the Government of India.
