A Note on Toppers

CISCE does not release an official toppers list. This policy is meant to reduce pressure and avoid unhealthy competition among students. Subject-wise merit certificates are awarded separately to outstanding performers. Individual schools and media outlets have reported several students crossing 99.5% across Science, Commerce, and Arts streams.

How to Download ISC 12th Marksheet via DigiLocker

  2. Log in using your Aadhaar-linked mobile number
  3. Under the Education section, search for CISCE

This copy is legally valid and accepted for college admissions just like a physical marksheet.

ISC 12th Revaluation and Rechecking Process 2026

If your score surprised you on the lower side, you have two routes.

Rechecking

The rechecking fee is Rs. 1,000 per paper per subject. Applications had to be submitted within seven days of the result through the CISCE website under the Public Services section. Rechecking results are typically announced in June 2026. In rechecking, the examiner verifies that all answers were marked and that the total was done correctly. Your answers are not re-read.

Revaluation

Revaluation costs Rs. 1,500 per subject. A senior examiner re-reads your answers and re-marks them. Marks can go up, come down, or stay the same. The fee is non-refundable.

The recheck window was May 1 to 4, 2026. If you missed it, check the CISCE website for any updates on extended deadlines.

ISC Compartment Exam 2026 (Eligibility and Dates)

Not everyone clears every paper on the first attempt. Here is what CISCE allows:

Who can appear for the compartment or improvement exam:

  • Students who failed in one or two subjects in the ISC Class 12 2026
  • Students who want to improve their marks in specific subjects

Who has to repeat the year: Students who fail in more than two subjects have to repeat the year.

EventExpected Date
Compartment or Improvement Exam15th June 2026 onwards
ResultLast week of July 2026 (tentative)

The ISC improvement exam is the last chance to secure ISC passing marks for Class 12. Failing to clear it means repeating the year.

What After ISC 12th Result 2026 (Courses and Career Options)

Once the result is out, the next logical question is what to do with it. Here are some common paths students take depending on their stream.

  • Science: JEE Main and Advanced for engineering, NEET UG for medical, B.Sc. in various subjects, B.Arch via NATA
  • Commerce: B.Com Hons, BBA, CA Foundation through ICAI, CS Foundation through ICSI, integrated MBA programs
  • Arts and Humanities: BA Hons in subjects like Psychology, English, or Political Science, BJMC, BA LLB, design programs via NID or NIFT

A few practical things to sort out immediately after the result:

  • Get your DigiLocker marksheet downloaded. Most colleges accept it during early admission rounds
  • Most CISCE-affiliated schools start Class 11 admissions shortly after the results are out, so students should not delay
  • Keep photocopies of your scorecard ready because every college application will ask for one

ISC Passing Criteria 2026 and Passing Marks Explained

The ISC class 12 passing criteria 2026 is one of those questions that comes up every single year around result time. Let's break it down clearly.

ISC Passing Marks Out of 100

To understand the ISC passing marks out of 100, students must score an aggregate ISC passing mark of 35% to qualify and to acquire a pass certificate.

RequirementMarks Needed
Per subject (out of 100)Minimum 40 marks
Overall aggregateMinimum 35%
Compulsory subjectEnglish (must pass)
Subjects to passEnglish plus at least 3 others
Failed in 1 to 2 subjectsCompartment exam eligible
Failed in 3 or more subjectsMust repeat the year

What Does PCNA Mean?

Students scoring below 35% marks are awarded a PCNA status, which stands for Pass Certificate Not Awarded. This is not the end of the road. The improvement exam in July 2026 is still an option

How to Calculate ISC Class 12 Percentage 2026

A lot of students get confused about how the ISC marks calculation 2026 is actually done. It is not a simple average of all your subjects.

The formula is:

ISC Percentage = (English Marks + Best 3 Subject Marks) divided by 4, multiplied by 100

Students must add 3 of their highest marks along with English, which is compulsory. Then divide the total of these 4 subjects by 4 and multiply by 100.

Example:

SubjectMarks
English78
Physics85
Chemistry80
Mathematics90
Biology72

ISC Percentage = (78 + 85 + 80 + 90) divided by 4 = 333 divided by 4 = 83.25%

Biology at 72 is the lowest score here, so it does not count in the calculation. Only English plus your best three subjects go in.

ISC Grading System 2026

Your marksheet shows both marks and grades. Here is the grading scale for external exams:

GradeMarks RangeWhat It Means
190 to 100%Outstanding
280 to 89%Excellent
370 to 79%Very Good
460 to 69%Good
550 to 59%Above Average
640 to 49%Average
735 to 39%Satisfactory
825 to 34%Below Average
9Below 25%Unsatisfactory

The CISCE grading system uses a nine-point scale, with 1 being the highest and 9 being the lowest. For internal assessments like projects and practicals, a separate A to E grading scale is used.

Common Issues While Checking ISC Result & How to Fix

If you are trying to check your ISC result and find request errors or if the website does not respond, don’t panic! Below are a few common problems and solutions you can try to fix them:

  • Website not loading or timing out: This happens every year right after results drop. Try checking during off-peak hours like early morning or late at night. The SMS method is your fastest backup.
  • Forgot your UID or Index Number: Both are printed on your ISC admit card or hall ticket. If you cannot find it, contact your school office directly.
  • Marksheet shows wrong name or date of birth: Note the exact error and report it to your school principal as soon as possible. Schools coordinate with CISCE to fix these. Do not wait on this one.
  • DigiLocker not showing your result: DigiLocker sometimes takes a few hours after the official announcement. Log out, log back in, and try again later. Make sure your Aadhaar is correctly linked to your account.
  • Marks lower than expected: Apply for rechecking at Rs. 1,000 per subject or revaluation at Rs. 1,500 per subject through the CISCE website.

Factors Affecting ISC Results and Cutoff Percentage

Although there's no significant change in pass percentage for ISC results, it still keeps changing based on different factors. Here's a detailed look at the factors influencing the percentage:

  • Exam Difficulty Level : ISC result analysis is based on the exam's difficulty. Students might score a comparatively lower percentage than usual in complex, conceptually based subjects. This encourages the top universities to drop their cutoff rates. Students tend to score high on easier exams, such as English and Humanities.

The cutoff rate for universities also increases if the overall ISC exam pattern is easy. Students find Mathematics, Physics, and a few concept-based subjects in Commerce tricky, which might drop their scores. Other subjects, like History, Political Science, English, Biology, Psychology, and Chemistry, have easy-to-moderate difficulty levels.
  • Number of Applicants : Another factor that determines top university cutoff rates is the number of applicants for a specific course. For instance, a high demand for Bachelor of Commerce (B.com), Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), and Bachelor of Arts courses results in a high cutoff rate for these courses.

Science courses also receive numerous applications and, thus, have a high cutoff rate at most universities. The cutoff score for students who want to pursue higher studies in medicine depends on their performance in competitive exams like NEET.
  • Entrance Exams : If a particular course requires an entrance exam, the student's score in these exams will be the first criterion evaluated. The effect of ISC is significantly reduced if the university prioritizes students' performance in entrance tests, such as NEET, CAT, SET, JEE, etc.

For these students, the percentage acquired in ISC exams won't play a significant role in determining their eligibility to apply for their desired institute.
  • Students' Performances : Innovative technology and online learning programs, such as graduate and postgraduate degrees with different specialisations offered by Amity Online, have made learning sessions fun and more interactive than traditional book-based learning.

Amity Online has incorporated artificial intelligence, machine learning, augmented reality, and virtual reality to deliver exceptional learning sessions to students. Besides, online programs make it easier for students to achieve their desired degrees from the comfort of their homes. The best part is that students get excellent placement assistance after the course.

These advanced learning approaches, combined with a world-class facility and highly qualified faculty, improve students' academic performance, which affects the ISC results.
