ISC Class 12th Result 2025: Expected Pass Percentage and Cutoff Predictions

Updated: 14 May 2025, 1:12 pm IST

The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) organizes the Indian School Certificate (ISC) exams. ISC is a two-year program for students in 11th and 12th grades. It prepares students for higher education and the workforce.

The exams are conducted yearly in schools affiliated with the CISCE and require strong theoretical knowledge and critical thinking skills. The exam pattern requires students to think beyond rote learning practices and adopt a conceptual learning approach to score maximum marks.

This year, the exams started on February 13th and are scheduled to be finished by April 5th. Over 1,00,000 students will appear for the exam. Based on the previous year's results pattern, the ISC class 12th result 2025 is expected to be released in May.

This article covers ISC pass percentage trends, ISC's 12th expected cutoff in 2025, result analysis, and further details.

An Overview of ISC Pass Percentage Trends

Knowing past trends for the pass percentage in ISC can help students predict the results for 2025. Here's a look at the past 10 years pass percentage for ISC exam:

Year

96.28%

2016

96.46%

2017

96.47%

2018

2022

99.38%

2023

96.93%

2024

The pass percentage pattern for students appearing for ISC exams has been consistent for the last ten years. The percentage rate has been above 96 since 2015, reaching a staggering 99% in 2021 and 2022. The sudden increase is due to the alternative assessment scheme that the CISCE adopted due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The score is calculated based on internal assessments, evaluating students' past performances instead of solely relying on their board exams. This clearly shows students' academic performances.

Expected Pass Percentage

The CISCE has not released the ISC 12th result date for 2025 or announced the official pass percentage for 2025. For ISC board result prediction, students can refer to past trends. If the consistent pattern continues, students can expect a pass percentage in a similar range (between 95% and 98%) this year.

Cutoff Predictions

For students to pass a specific subject, they must score the minimum marks set forth by the CISCE board. Those enrolled in ISC-affiliated schools must achieve a minimum of 40 marks in each subject (regardless of the stream they choose) to pass.

English and Economics are the only subjects with 100% theory marks. The rest, including physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics, accounts, business studies, history, and geography, have internal assessments that help students score 20% to 30% marks (depending on the score criteria).

Students must have an aggregate score of 35% to pass the ISC exam. However, the cutoff percentage, which decides whether a student can apply for India's top-ranking institute, is usually higher. It can be between 60% and 90%.

Factors Affecting ISC Results and Cutoff Percentage

Although there's no significant change in pass percentage for ISC results, it still keeps changing based on different factors. It primarily depends on the exam's pattern, difficulty level, assessment scheme, applicant count, etc. Here's a detailed look at the factors influencing the percentage:

Exam Difficulty Level

ISC result analysis 2025 is based on the exam's difficulty. Students might score a comparatively lower percentage than usual in complex, conceptual-based subjects. This encourages the top universities to drop their cutoff rates. Students tend to score high on easier exams, such as English and Humanities.

The cutoff rate for universities also increases if the overall ISC exam pattern is easy. Students find Mathematics, Physics, and a few concept-based subjects in Commerce tricky, which might drop their scores. Other subjects, like History, Political Science, English, Biology, Psychology, and Chemistry, have easy-to-moderate difficulty levels.

Number of Applicants

Another factor that determines top university cutoff rates is the number of applicants for a specific course. For instance, a high demand for Bachelor of Commerce (B.com), Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), and Bachelor of Arts courses results in a high cutoff rate for these courses.

Science courses also receive numerous applications and, thus, have a high cutoff rate at most universities. The cutoff score for students who want to pursue higher studies in medicine depends on their performance in competitive exams like NEET.

Entrance Exams

If a particular course requires an entrance exam, the student's score in these exams will be the first criterion evaluated. The effect of ISC is significantly reduced if the university prioritizes students' performance in entrance tests, such as NEET, CAT, SET, JEE, etc. For these students, the percentage acquired in ISC exams won't play a significant role in determining their eligibility to apply for their desired institute.

Students' Performances

Innovative technology and online learning programs, such as graduate and postgraduate degrees with different specialisations offered by Amity Online, have made learning sessions fun and more interactive than traditional book-based learning.

Amity Online has incorporated artificial intelligence, machine learning, augmented reality, and virtual reality to deliver exceptional learning sessions to students. Besides, online programs make it easier for students to achieve their desired degrees from the comfort of their homes. The best part is that students get excellent placement assistance after the course.

These advanced learning approaches, combined with a world-class facility and highly qualified faculty, improve students' academic performance, which affects the ISC results.

Conclusion

CISCE brings one of the most challenging exam patterns for students. It covers in-depth knowledge of each subject, preparing students for a fruitful career. Students eagerly await ISC class 12th results 2025

Until the results are announced, students can evaluate the previous students' performances, pass percentage trends for the last 5-10 years, and the factors influencing the marking criteria and cutoff percentage. Although historical performances give quick insights into the estimated pass percentage and cutoff for this year, the success depends on students' individual performances.
