What is the PM Yashasvi Scholarship Scheme?

PM Yasasvi Scholarship 2024 Vibrant India (PM-YASHASVI) is a comprehensive scheme designed to offer economic help to college students belonging to OBC, EBC, and DNT classes. The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MoSJE), in collaboration with national governments and the National Steering Committee (NSP), administers the implementation.

Eligible students whose annual earnings are less than ₹2.5 lakh can apply for this scholarship. The central government funds the scheme exclusively for Indian students from any state or union territory.

Eligibility Criteria of PM Yashasvi Scholarship Scheme for OBC/EBC/DNT Students

The PM Yashasvi Scholarship Scheme aims to support OBC/EBC/DNT college students who are pursuing studies beyond Class XII. Students from these classes, with a complete annual family income from all assets as much as ₹2.50 lakhs and who have secured admission in a full-time prescribed path at any of the notified establishments in line with the general choice standards prescribed by means of the institution, can be eligible for a PM Yashasvi scholarship under this scheme. 

The range of PM Yashasvi Scholarship 2024 (slots) available to the institution will decide the extent of insurance. Each family can benefit from the scheme for a maximum of siblings. Students must submit an affidavit to their group, certifying that they are no longer the 0.33 sibling receiving benefits under the scheme.

Notes:
1. If the pool of eligible first-12 month candidates is significantly smaller than the available slots, we may offer the remaining slots to eligible students in their 2nd, 3rd, and 4th years, solely based on the benefits from the previous year's activities. Students with more years left to complete their route may receive priority. For instance, we could prioritize second-year college students over third-year students.

2. Based primarily on their inter-se merit, eligible female college students could reserve 30% of the slots for themselves. If there aren't enough eligible female students, we might transfer the remaining slots to eligible male college students solely based on their inter-se advantage.

3. The 30% reservation for female college students does not include those selected on the general benefit listing of OBC/EBC/DNT college students of the group.

4. If the student does not improve for the next semester/elegance, the scholarship may end.

5. Since the fund is typically designated for OBC college students, the scheme may give preference to these students.

6. If the number of eligible students exceeds the range of allotted slots, scholarships could be confined to the top students on the interstate merit list based on the admission standards for the path. If there is a tie for the final slot, the student with the lowest family earnings will receive the choice. 

The Ministry, through State Governments/UT Administrations, administers the Post-Matric Scholarship (PMS) to the final eligible OBC/EBC/DNT college students.

Eligible 'Top Class' Institutions and Number of Scholarship Slots: 

• All IIMs, IITs, IIITs, AIIMSs, NITs, NIFTs, NIDs, Indian Institutes of Hotel Management, National Law Universities, and different Central Government Institutions may be eligible for inclusion within the Scheme, provided they observe for inclusion and are recommended by way of the Selection Committee, or are at once advocated by means of the Selection Committee.
• Institutions now not inside the above classes have to be both: 
  • Accredited by way of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with A or A,

Notes:

1. For new entrants (first-year students), the institution will select eligible OBC/EBC/DNT students based on merit as per the entrance examination merit list. The entrance exams for each course are listed in Annexure I. Students must apply under the scheme on the NSP.
2. For renewal applications (students joining the second or subsequent years of the course), the institution's verification of the application confirms that the student has been promoted to the next class and has taken admission.
3. Students should purchase a computer/laptop and accessories in the first year of receiving the scholarship. They must submit the purchase bill when applying for the scholarship in the subsequent year. If the purchase amount is less than the released amount under this head, the institution will adjust the difference against the grant proposed for the student on the NSP.

Benefits of the Scholarship

Eligible OBC/EBC/DNT students who secure admission in the notified institutions will receive scholarships to cover the following expenses:

• Full tuition fee and non-refundable charges: Up to ₹2.00 lakhs PA for every student for private institutions and up to ₹3.72 lakhs per annum per student for private sector flying clubs for Commercial Pilot Training and Type Rating Courses.
• Living expenses: ₹3,000 per month per student.
• Books and stationery: ₹5,000 per year per student.
• The latest computer/laptop: One-time assistance of up to ₹45,000 per student for a reputed brand with accessories like UPS and printer.

Notes:

1. The scholarship will become payable immediately after the student secures admission and starts attending regular classes.

2. The payment of tuition fees and other non-refundable charges will be made directly to the institution by the Central Government through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode.
 

3. The payment for living expenses, books and stationery, and a computer/laptop with accessories will be made directly to the student by the Central Government through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode in PM Yasasvi Scholarship 2024.
