PMSS Scholarship Eligibility Requirements

 

Before completing an application for the PMSS Scholarship 2024, students must carefully review and check all of the qualifying requirements. The main requirements that the candidate has to fulfill are:

The student must be a dependent ward and widow of a former member of the Coast Guard or the armed forces.

 

The student has to have been accepted into a 1st undergraduate course (UG) only; integrated and lateral entrance courses are not included.

 

The candidate must have completed the Minimum Educational Qualification (MEQ), which may include a Class 12 diploma or degree, with a minimum score of 60% or higher.

 

**Critical:** While the MEQ differs for various professional degrees, in order to apply for the PMSS Scholarship Scheme, an applicant must receive at least 60% in the applicable MEQ. This computation takes into account every topic, not simply the finest. 

 

PMSS Scholarship 2024 Application and Renewal Process

 

Most people ask one question: Can a student apply for the scholarship offline? So the answer is no; the applications for the PM scholarship are made online only through their official website. For the academic year 2024-25, the application process will be conducted through the National Scholarship Portal. Below are the steps mentioned. Applicants must follow this step-by-step guide to apply for the scholarship:

Step 1: Registering on NSP

 

  1. First, you must visit the official website of NSP: [scholarships.gov.in](https://scholarships.gov.in).
  2. Then Click on “New Registration”.
  3. Read all the application guidelines carefully.
  4. Once you have read all the details, continue to proceed or submit.
  5. Fill in all the required details and ensure all details are correct.
  6. Click on the ‘Register button’.

Step 2: Complete the Application

 

  1. Log in to the official portal website using the application ID and password or login credentials you received on the registered mobile number.
  2. After all of these, you receive one OTP, and the OTP will be generated on the registered mobile number for successful login.
  3. Verify the received OTP and change the password.
  4. Once you log in, fill out the scholarship application form with the required details.
  5. Upload scanned copies of all supporting documents required.
  6. Finally, apply.

PM Scholarship 2024 – Renewal

 

Selected applicants/scholars will receive the first installment of the PM scholarship immediately after the merit list is announced. Subsequent payments will only be made if the students successfully apply for renewal after the completion of each academic year. Similar to the initial application, candidates must apply for renewal online. To be eligible for renewal, students must meet the following conditions:

  • Obtain at least a minimum 50% marks in each semester or academic year.
  • Successfully Passed all subjects each year/semester on one attempt.

List Of All Documents Required for (PMSS) PM Scholarship 2024

 

Once the applicants know how to apply the step-by-step application process, they need to know about the necessary documents required for the (PMSS) Prime Minister Scholarship Scheme. Once the applicant knows all the steps and the list of documents needed. Then, applicants are advised to prepare scanned copies of all supporting documents before starting the application. Below is the list of documents necessary for the PM scholarship application:

 

  1. The Aadhaar card of the student
  2. Matriculation certificate for verifying the (DOB) date of birth
  3. Ex-servicemen/Ex-coast guard certificate**, duly filled out and signed by ZSB/Coast Guard HQ as per Annexure-1.
  4. Bonafide certificate, correctly filled out and signed by the Vice Chancellor/Principal/Vice Principal/Dean/Associate Dean/Registrar/Deputy Registrar/Director/Deputy Director of the Institute/College as per Annexure 2.
  5. Certificate from the student's bank stating that the Aadhaar card of the student is linked with their bank account number as per Annexure-3
  6. Minimum Educational Qualification (MEQ) certificate**, as applicable, including Class 12 mark sheet/graduation (all 3 years)/Diploma
  7. The first page of the bank passbook (preferably PNB/SBI only) clearly shows the name and account number of the student and the bank's IFS code.
  8. PPO/ESM identity card for Category 6 and the following supporting documents for Categories 1 to 5:

  Category 1: Part II order for the army; general form for the Navy; POR for the Air Force

  Category 5: Award certificate along with gazette notification

  Category 6: Original PPO or ESM identity card (to be scanned and uploaded)

PM Scholarship 2024 – Selection Criteria

The Applicant will be selected based on the fulfillment and pass all of the eligibility criteria. The order of preference for the selection of candidates is as follows:

Category 1: Wards and widows of ESM/Ex-coast guard personnel killed in action.
Category 2: Wards of ESM/Ex-coast Guard personnel disabled in action and boarded out of service with a disability attributable to military/Coast Guard service.
Category 3: Wards and widows of ESM/Ex-coast guard personnel who died while in service due to causes attributable to military/Coast Guard service.
Category 4: Wards of ESM/Ex-coast Guard personnel disabled in service with a disability attributable to military/Coast Guard service.
Category 5: Wards and widows of ESM/Ex-coast guard personnel in receipt of gallantry awards.
Category 6: Wards and widows of ESM/Ex-coast guard personnel (PBOR only).

To be eligible applicants for the PM scholarship for dual degree integrated courses, students must complete their first two years of non-professional courses without failing, repeating, or taking a break (RA) in the examination.

**Important:** If a student fails to clear all subjects in the first two years on the first attempt or within the stipulated time frame, they will not be eligible for the scholarship.

After the Selection of the (PMSS) PM Scholarship 2024- Rewards

A total of 2,000 eligible candidates benefit from this scheme each year, with an equal number of scholarships awarded to both girls and boys. Girls receive a scholarship amount of INR 3,000 per month, while boys receive INR 2,500 per month, both paid annually. The duration of the scholarship ranges from one to five years, depending on the length of the course. Additionally, starting from the 2019-20 academic year, 500 more scholarships (250 for boys and 250 for girls) are awarded to the wards of State Police Personnel martyred in Naxal/Terror attacks.
