What is GATE 2025?
Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering or GATE is an All-India examination authorised, conducted and managed across eight different regions in India. This examination is essentially conducted by the GATE Committee. The committee comprising members of faculty from IISc and 7 IITs on behalf of:
- Ministry of Human Resources Development
- National Coordinating Board
- Department of Education
The reputed GATE examination aims to test the student's knowledge across various subjects, including Engineering and Science topics. This test is jointly conducted by IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIT Bombay, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, IIT Delhi, IIT Roorkee and the Indian Institute for Science, Bangalore (IISC Bangalore). It is conducted on a rotational basis each year, by one of the IITs or IISC Bangalore.

About GATE 2025 Exam Registration
IIT Roorkee is responsible for conducting GATE 2025. The institution has revised the application form dates for the GATE 2025 examinations. According to the revised schedule, GATE 2025 registrations were to start 28 August, 2024 onwards. The final date for GATE registration had been extended to October 3, 2024 (with no late fee applicability).
Prior to the revision, applicants were required to submit their application forms by the 26th of September, 2024 (regular fees apply). Post-revision, candidates shall be able to submit their GATE 2025 application form (with late fees) up till October 11, 2024.
Aspiring candidates can provide the required information on the GATE 2025 application form by visiting the official website. In order to enrol for the GATE exam successfully, one has to pay a requisite fee of RS. 900 (applicable for female/PWD candidates SC/ST) and Rs. 1800 (other candidates) during the usual timeframe. However, a late fee of Rs. 500 was applicable for candidates who had applied after October 3, 2024.
GATE 2025 Exam Result Declaration
GATE 2025 result date is now available to view on the official website. GATE 2025 results will be published on 19th March, 2025. Applicants who do qualify the GATE 2025 exams will be able to download the scorecard for GATE 2025 between 28th March, 2025 – 31st March, 2025. After that, one can download their scorecard by paying a fee of Rs. 500 per test paper (valid June 1, 2025 onwards, up to December 31, 2025).
GATE 2025 Exam – Two-Combination Paper
GATE 2025 exam has a two paper combination system. These candidates who wish to appear in both the disciplines can pick their primary paper by default. For their second preference of paper, they may refer to the allowed combination decided upon by the authority in charge.
Note that students who want to appear for GATE 2025 must go with the default combinations themselves. Other combinations are not preferable by the board. However, the facility to add/modify test papers is extended from November 10 onwards, up to November 20, 2024, and Nov 22 (valid for PwD candidates).
