IIM Bangalore is one of India's elite Indian Institutes of Management, belonging to the ABC (Assistant Batchmates of Calcutta). The campus features world-class facilities that promote intellectual growth and development.
Students benefit from world-class faculty and academic resources, enabling them to explore various specializations of Management Science. Our curriculum is designed to develop their leadership abilities. Furthermore, the institute offers a Doctoral Program in Management Science.
IIM Bangalore had an extremely successful 2025 placements process next year, with 484 students finding summer internship opportunities during an intense week of interviews. Over 80% of students secured their dream companies this time around, according to Debolina Dutta, Chairperson - Career Development Services.
Consulting firms led with 158 offers, with Accenture Strategy making an astounding 45 internship offers alone. However, students interning in consulting saw their ratio decrease slightly as finance, banking and investment firms provided more internship opportunities: 130 of them.
Placements included many fast-moving consumer goods and retail firms that hired students for marketing roles. In contrast, manufacturing firms made over 55 offers to students. In comparison, the e-commerce and payments sector recruited aggressively, with over 45 offers made to students who were interested in digital marketing roles or card business roles.
Benefits of IIM Bangalore Internship
IIM Bangalore internships offer the opportunity to work in India’s leading graduate business school, leveraging technology to drive industry disruption and transformative change. This is a great opportunity to develop leadership and management skills while also building your career prospects.
While this internship may not help you gain admission to the prestigious school, it will definitely make your CV stand out amongst other candidates. Besides, it will provide you with valuable insights into how the top companies operate and what it is like to be part of an organisation.
As part of the BDE Project, the institute is seeking interns to carry out daily program duties in coordination with the program and associate manager. These will include scheduling the online classroom engagement, collaborating closely with internal teams to understand project requirements, and actively seeking out creative ideas for achieving program milestones.
IIM Bangalore completed placements of its largest ever Postgraduate Program in Management (PGPM) and Post Graduate Programme in Business Analytics (PGP-BA) batch of 602 students. The placement week held between November 6 and 11 saw 484 PGP and PGP-BA students get placed, with 115 additional students from the same batch getting placed in a subsequent rolling process.
This included a targeted drive-by Atypical Advantage to place 12 students with disabilities and three PGP students who found internships independently.
Application process
The internship will be for 6 months. Applicants should have a BBM, BBA or MBA in human resources, with a minimum of half a year’s work experience. They should also have a foundational understanding of the pertinent HR regulations. Applicants should be proficient with the human resource information system and work well in teams.
The institute launched the BDE Project in an effort to give Indian students access to top-tier management education. It believes in the power of technology to drive industry disruption and transformative change.
IIM Bangalore typically conducts summer placements in April-May.
However, to avoid clashes with the academic schedule, the institute tries to complete the summer selection process well in advance within a designated week. This year, the institute was able to offer summer internships to about 80 percent of its students.
Nonetheless, the institute is still working on finding jobs for the remaining 110 PGP students. It has been conducting a rolling placement process in addition to the final placements. The latter is chiefly meant for candidates with more extensive work experience. During the final placements, firms are invited on campus on a single day to choose students for senior and middle-management roles.
The institute also conducts Lateral Placements for candidates with more than 10 months of work experience. The process starts a month or two before the final placements and follows a similar format.
Key insights from past interns
The Indian Institute of Management Bangalore recently concluded its summer internship placements for the PGP and PGP-Business Analytics 2024-26 cohort. This year, the institute saw 140 organizations participate in roles across Consulting, Finance, IT, FMCG and Manufacturing. The highest number of offers came from Accenture Strategy, with the firm making a record 45 offers.
According to Debolina Dutta, chairperson of IIM Bangalore’s career development cell, the institute tries to complete the summer intern selection process well in advance within a designated week to avoid clashes with students’ academic schedules. She said that around 80 percent of the batch got their internship offers within the stipulated time.
She further added that the institute has been able to place “more than 490 students, which far exceeds the batch sizes of similar prestigious colleges”. She added that it is a huge accomplishment as it shows that the IIMs are moving in the right direction.
She further mentioned that the key to excelling during an internship is ensuring that you are constantly learning. She also suggested that it is essential to find a mentor and seek their guidance at every step. You should understand your strengths and weaknesses so you can improve upon them. Finally, she advised that you should not be afraid to take risks and try new things.
