“Don’t let failures come in the way of your success. Move ahead and make something beautiful out of battles you didn’t win.”
For many of us, life is not that simple. Manjit was born and brought up in a middle class family. Every day he would come strolling back from school to find his mother stitching clothes. His father would still be at work, trying to make ends meet. Although he was the youngest of four children and the most pampered one, he learned the toughest lessons as he experienced the struggle his parents went through.
His father was a railway employee but their tussle with money was huge. His mother used to stitch clothes for railway employees just to get hold of some extra cash. She would stay awake late at night to complete the stitching work and his father would rarely take a day off. Both of them worked in coordination to send their children to school and provide them with the education they deserved. Their hard work left a great impression on Manjit’s heart, and since his early childhood, he learned that there’s no surviving in this world without sweating it out.
Even today, after reaching the zenith of success, Manjit believes he owes all his achievements to his parents. He says that without his parents, he wouldn’t have received a decent education — schooling from a Government School in Lodhi Colony and graduation from Khalsa College, Delhi University.
When Manjit completed his graduation, it was time for his father’s retirement. He stepped out of college realising that it’s time to provide for and take care of his family. But, deep in his heart, he had a desire to pursue higher education, which he did later in life. Manjit pursued A.I.C.W.A, Cost Accountancy from Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India and MBA in Finance and Accounts from Amity Distance Learning.
Manjit entered the corporate world when he joined Monet Exports Pvt. Ltd. as an Accounts Executive in 1996. He worked there for approximately 4 years, but after realizing that his dreams were bigger than what he was being offered, he switched. His next work destination was Bharti Telecom. It was when Mr. Narsimha Rao, the then Prime Minister of India, initiated a wave of liberalization. Bharti Telecom gave Manjit many opportunities to learn the intricacies of finance and accounting. During his 4-year journey with the company, Manjit got to work directly under the leadership of Mr. Rakesh Mittal and Mr. Sunil Mittal. He learned a lot about thoughtful leadership from them and later implemented this knowledge when it was his time to lead. There was a brief duration after his stint with Bharti Telecom when he worked with Thappar Group, which gave a major boost to his confidence.
He joined Oriflame soon after, and it’s been almost 22 years now since Manjit became an integral part of the system. Oriflame is a beauty and cosmetics brand that runs on the values of togetherness, spirit, and passion. Manjit has survived every phase of this company and made his way through thick and thin. When he first joined Oriflame, he was offered the position of a Finance Manager. Today, he is the Managing Director of Oriflame India’s manufacturing wing and also a part of its Board of Directors. Under his leadership, the company has seen many bright days and completed numerous ventures successfully.
“Success doesn’t find you, you have to go, search for it, and get it.”
Manjit was able to achieve the biggest milestones of his life because he had the inspiration to accomplish something and his high moral values worked in favour of his career. He realizes that every work requires detailed knowledge along with professionalism. If you lack this combination, mistakes become blunders.
He says, “I have learned that nobody is perfect in this world and mistakes tend to happen but we need to learn from them and take the corrective action to move forward.” He has truly followed this mantra at Oriflame through his leadership years. There were times when mistakes were made, things went wrong, and everything seemed upside down. But Manjit never left hope and every time, he would recall how his parents used to struggle. He would go back to all his education years and what he learned during that period. Each time, he found a solution to the situation, and if not, he learned something from it.
One thing that Manjit developed during his early years of career is self-confidence. He shared how Mr. Rakesh Mittal at Bharti Telecom once challenged him to handle a banking operation alone. He had little knowledge of banking; however, he had the will to learn. So, he worked hard, learned it, and even excelled, which also got him MD’s recognition. His ability and will to learn is never-ending. Even today, if he is asked something he doesn’t have enough knowledge of, he learns and masters it. Isn’t this a personality trait of a true leader?
Another challenge came in front of him when Manjit had already completed 4 years at Oriflame in Finance. The Global Vice President asked him to head the supply chain functions of the India unit. It was a joyous moment for him that all his efforts had finally been recognized, but he was afraid of failure. So he asked his Global VP, “What if I fail?” The Global VP replied, “I believe in you and I have the confidence that you can do this. Even if you aren’t able to handle this responsibility, at least you won’t have the regret of not trying.” It changed his perspective towards his own qualities. It definitely changed his career, his view towards life, and led him on a path of success. He accepted the challenge, and as we all know, he is now the Managing Director at Oriflame.
Bit by bit, he learned everything, handled every task at hand, and reached a position where he is today. He guides and encourages his team through every process. In fact, Manjit constantly takes out time to teach his subordinates. He wants them all to achieve something bigger and better every day.
All these efforts did not go to waste as Manjit received the TSP (Togetherness, Spirit, and Passion) Award from Oriflame. When he was being honoured with the award, 60 country managers of Oriflame were present at the event. All of them wished him well and appreciated him for the work he has done over years.
“My advice to the students is to keep your basics clear. Nothing is impossible in this world, you need to have positive attitude, and can-do spirit. Always be ready to learn from your mistakes.”
Manjit’s journey is an example we all look up to. He says that when he decided to complete his MBA in Finance and Marketing, he couldn’t have chosen any other college than Amity. He says, “I had a clear choice as Amity has highly experienced and qualified faculty, very competitive fees, convenient study centers, flexible class timings, and high ranking.”
“When you take up a challenge that seems impossible at the moment, push yourself to grow and increase your self-confidence.”
If you come home some day from work thinking you are done trying, re-think your decision and try again. Change your work values, redesign your attitude, and show up at work the next day as if you were a different professional: a more positive version of you. Then watch opportunities embracing your path.
Rajnish Magan made us believe in this.
Even if we have difficult goals set for ourselves, remember that they give us a chance to shine. They teach us how to be patient while still being on our toes to grab new opportunities. And when you set your values straight, results that follow are always satisfactory.
Rajnish followed these values throughout his school life in Delhi, during his graduation from Delhi University, and at workplace. His career values gave him an edge over his colleagues and enabled him to gain expertise in indirect/direct tax, GRC function, fundraising and mergers, and acquisitions and post-merger integrations. Today, people show up at his office, knocking on his door for seeking assistance on financial matters and work-related problems. He, in turn, welcomes everyone with an open heart.
Rajnish has worked for 26 years for various firms. During this period, he acquired knowledge on accounting, finance, audit, compliance and governance, risk management, and taxation. With 16 years of public sector and 10 years of private sector experience, he is now finally working as the CFO of BEUMER India. BEUMER India Private Limited offers best solutions for logistics and end-of-line packaging across the world. The company provides an array of services and products in sectors such as cement, logistics, mining, power plants, airports, etc.
During his public sector employment, he had less exposure than he could have received. He realised soon enough that public sector units usually don’t take commercial risks because they fear their consequences. However, private sector, especially MNCs, give you a wide spectrum. They allow you to take authority, work with independence, and learn from the mistakes you have made. This realization became a turning point of Rajnish’s life and he finally decided to leave the public sector. He made mistakes, widened his area of knowledge, and learned from every milestone in his professional life.
One of the major career challenges Rajnish faced was during his stint with Delhi Metro Corporation. The unit in which he worked had many Japanese, British, and Indian companies involved at various stages. Managing huge contracts and providing correct tax advisory pushed him to the extreme. He worked very hard and succeeded, and this success instilled confidence in him to take up bigger challenges. Rajnish would often stay late at work to handle things he thought were impossible. But he always overcame the challenges and emerged a winner. Later he worked with various other industry giants, including Siemens Ltd, Enexo Teknologies India, etc.
His list of achievements is never-ending as he managed acquisition and amalgamation of companies and gained extensive experience in accounting, auditing, costing, ERM, domestic and cross-border taxation, and contracts. He also managed fundraising for domestic as well as international markets such as ECB, masala bonds, etc.
If you seek Rajnish’s assistance on anything related to national and international contracts, he’d solve your queries in seconds. He has even implemented HR consulting operations such as payroll bench marking, redefining job roles, creating a flat organization, and handling employee communication.
While everybody was reminiscing about how he managed to acquire expertise in all these areas, Rajnish kept moving up the corporate ladder. He never stopped learning and never refrained from teaching others. Maybe that is the reason why he is so much admired at workplace today. Rajnish believes that to be successful, you need to follow the 4D formula — desire, discipline, dedication, and divine intervention.
“Life so far has been great and who doesn’t have ups and downs? I believe in living life to the fullest and enjoying all phases and moments of life without waiting for any specific moment of joy,” he says.
“I urge students to have the right attitude, as other attributes can always be acquired and enhanced over a period of time. Never lose hope during failures in life, learn from these failures, and improve continuously. I have failed on many occasions in achieving life goals, but I never gave up and later that paid the dividends.”
Rajnish was in one of the first batches of Amity Distance Learning and he pursued PGD in Business Management. He has been with us from the start of our journey. Just as Amity has helped him gain additional knowledge, he has also helped us grow. For him, Amity Distance Learning was a stepping stone which enabled him to achieve further career success.
He says, “It was hard work coupled with fun and backed by excellent faculty from Amity.”
Mandeep Sehgal is a proven leader in the field of automobiles and his is a story that is inspiring and fascinating at the same time. He was a part of a generation where courses such as B.Com carried more weightage and guaranteed a good job.
Immediately after his double graduation in BBA and BCA, he took up a job as a Sales Officer with J K Tyres. He worked in that capacity for about 3 years before started working for Bridgestone India. The 8 years and 9 months that he spent there saw his progression from a Deputy District Sales Manager to District Sales Manager to Regional Sales Manager.
Mandeep was, to his superiors, a very promising resource with strategic thinking skills and out-of-the-box approach in resolving issues and coming up with innovative ideas. He had always been a people’s person where he empathized with others’ points of view before placing himself.
These skills led him to take up and be successful at challenging assignments, including setting up new processes in his organization and being part of a new product launch team. These, along with his commitment and passion towards his job and being customer oriented, helped him achieve the pinnacle of success wherever he worked.
He decided to enroll into online MBA from Amity University while he was working in Bridgestone India as Deputy District Manager. The program added a much-needed postgraduate degree on his resume and he quickly climbed the ladder to success. In November 2012, he got promoted as Functional Head. Presently, he is working as Channel Head, Replacement Sales 4S Channel for Goodyear, India.
Mandeep aspires to give something back to the society that helped him perpetually grow and achieve professional success. He wishes to nurture talent by teaching, which is his passion and looks forward to contributing on that front.
Mandeep states that he had an altogether different experience of studying at Amity Online. He is forever thankful to the faculty and the administrative team of the University for lending admirable support making the program structure smooth. He is still in touch with them and they have become an integral part of his life.
“From having a stagnant career to being an outperforming corporate professional, Rukam’s career took a major turn.”
Rukam has 19 years of extensive experience in supply chain management in the F&B industry. He has pursued his BSC from HNBGU Srinagar, Postgraduate Diploma in Material Management from Annamalai University, and an MBA from Amity Online University.
However, after graduation, when Rukam finally joined the corporate sector and gained a wide experience in supply chain management, procurement, negotiation, warehouse operations, and logistics management, he knew that without an MBA degree, he’ll be trapped in a stagnant career. He couldn’t pursue a full-time education due to various personal constraints, so he decided to pursue the MBA program from Amity Distance Learning. It helped him reach the zenith of success, and now, he is heading the supply chain management in his current organization.
That’s not all. His team has won Golden Spoon Award 2016, organized by India Food Forum.
He believes, “There is a huge change in me. I, now, have a proactive approach in decision making and my team members have a different attitude towards me.”
“He is now an Associate General Manager at Vedanta Ltd. and continues to thrive & learn at every corner.”
Soumyanath Ghosh is a driven and accomplished Mechanical Engineer. He is adaptable to change and has 14 years of core experience in engineering management, plant maintenance, and construction projects in the metals & mining sector (Alumina Refinery, Aluminium & Copper Smelters) across Asia & Africa in a multicultural environment. His achievements are because of his enthusiasm and dedication towards building a successful global career.
Since his childhood, he was always a sincere and brilliant student. Giving priority to his education with an aim to build a successful career, he gave all his time to studies. After graduating from Uttar Pradesh Technical University in B.Tech (Mechanical Engineering), Soumyanath started working in Bharat Aluminium Company Ltd as an Associate Manager — Mechanical Maintenance & Reliability from 2004. He worked there for more than 3 years and then joined Konkola Copper Mines Plc as a Manager in Mechanical Maintenance (Smelter) in 2008 in Zambia, East Africa.
While working there, he realized he needed to gain some managerial & leadership skills. He decided to enroll at Amity for online MBA degree in 2014. As he was working in a renowned company, he was looking for a university that could offer a flexible program. He chose Amity over other institutions offering similar programs because of the clear and crisp course content, hassle-free academic processes and because of its international recognition & acceptability.
During his program, he started absorbing managerial and leadership skills, which helped him in his career at Konkola Copper Mines. Further, he got an opportunity to manage the Mechanical Maintenance & Services vertical of copper smelter and to provide leadership for asset management & reliability engineering functions.
This program made him a highly engaged, collaborative and efficient leader having a proactive approach to accomplish business objectives with demonstrated commitment. Thereafter, he was offered a Manager’s role in Business & Strategic Operations at Vizag General Cargo Berth Pvt. Ltd. (Vedanta Ltd) in Vishakhapatnam, India (Feb 2016–Nov 2016). Through his management and business skills, he was able to build his confidence. Recently, he is placed at Vedanta Ltd — Aluminium Business, where he has been working as Associate General Manager — Maintenance (Plant II GAP) since Nov 2016 in Jharsuguda (Odisha), India.
While sharing his experience with Amity, he stated, “Amity offers exclusive programs for working professionals through online/distance mode of study at all career levels. I wanted to gain knowledge in the marketing & sales domain to augment my managerial skills. I found excellent growth and recognition both professionally & socially after completing online MBA.”
“Success may be the ultimate goal for some people, but for Sanjay Kapoor, growth and development hold an important place.”
They say we should keep learning throughout our lives. We create some growth opportunities and other opportunities come to us. Sanjay utilized an opportunity just like this to surge ahead. After completing his Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management from Amity Distance Learning, he saw his life take a turn for the better. His knowledge base enhanced and new career opportunities paved their way in front of him.
Sanjay completed his Diploma in Hotel Management from IHM Pusa, Delhi, and then, he worked in the hospitality and service industry for almost 15 years. In the year 2005, he received an offer from a US-based IT organization located in Noida. He was invited to overlook and handle their facilities, real estate, and general management. Ever since, he’s been happily working with the same organization. However, as we know, we are never too knowledgeable to stop learning. Sanjay also felt the need to enhance and refine his HR skills, which led him to Amity Distance Learning. He feels that pursuing this education from Amity gave him an extra edge.
Further, he says, “After the program, I feel more confident and it feels amazing when people come to me for advice.”
“Sometimes one right path becomes the turning point of your career, and this is exactly what happened with Rajeev.”
Rajeev’s journey from a computer operator to Vertical Head, Capex Procurement has been an extraordinary one. He felt the need to complete his post-graduation degree, and from encouragement from his boss, he proceeded with the idea. His MBA degree from Amity Online played a big role in shaping his career. He immediately got a promotion and better recognition at work.
Rajeev completed his schooling from St. Aloysius School, Ranchi and his graduation in Mathematics from Ranchi University. He initially started his career as a Computer Operator and SAP in-charge. After this, he worked with various organizations before joining Tata Teleservices Ltd. Rajeev was in the role of MIS Executive in 2007, and after working in this position for 2 years, he shifted to Telenor and then Idea Cellular Limited, where he is currently working.
When Rajeev got a chance to work with Idea Cellular Limited, he realized that management trainees frequently received amazing opportunities. Based on their performance, people were often promoted to the designation of Assistant Manager. However, he had to work for at least 7 years to reach that position. This thought made Rajeev think about pursuing a management degree that would boost his confidence, offer him career growth, and enable him to grab new opportunities. He discussed this with his boss, who encouraged Rajeev to pursue MBA from Amity Online.
When Rajeev enrolled for the MBA program, he did not know that his career would take a turn for good. Within just a year of enrolling in this program, he was promoted as the Vertical Head. His confidence boomed, his knowledge base increased, and he was able to face challenges in a better way.
He quotes, “I must say that this addition to my education has changed the way people look at me. My confidence level and self-respect have grown over time.”
He recalled how all his friends and family members were extremely happy to see him clear his MBA degree with good grades. Everyone congratulated him on this big achievement.
He says, “I am very thankful to Amity Online for giving this respect and boosting my self-confidence. It has played a big role in whatever I am today.”
“Passion and will towards building his career encouraged Patrick to study further and gain practical knowledge.”
Although Patrick already had a graduation in Political Science and an MBA degree in hand, he knew something was missing in his career. Hence, he joined Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism and Mass Communication from Amity Online. This PGD course from Amity Distance Learning enabled Patrick to develop analytical skills, increase his conceptualization capabilities, and enhance his writing skills.
Patrick worked in the banking and development sectors after completing his graduation. However, like his father, he shared a keen interest in working for NGOs, which led him to join Caritas, an NGO in Delhi, where he is currently working. He always observed how people loved and supported his father and how he shared a precious bond with these people. However, he also got exposed to the bitter picture of the society. He knew that even if the government wanted to do something good for the poor and underprivileged, they never benefitted from it due to heavy corruption. All he wanted to do was fill this gap and let the underprivileged enjoy the basic necessities of life.
When he joined Amity’s distance learning program, he was facing the dilemma of surviving the tough market and competition. He wanted to gain additional knowledge but didn’t want to leave his full-time employment. So he looked out for distance learning opportunities with a renowned degree.
He says, “After completing my program, I realized that my competency and knowledge on the subject had improved and I was able to deliver better.”
The program gave him much-needed confidence and personal satisfaction, and he received love, compassion, and support from everyone and his peers.
He further explains, “What I like most about Amity is the fact that they provide online tutorials, a perfect platform, and a brand name.”
“Amity helped him to overcome roadblocks and directed him towards global career opportunities”
Rupesh Chopra didn’t realize his career is at an average stage until he started facing roadblocks in his career growth. After completing his graduation in Commerce when he met with an exciting job opportunity at Bharti Airtel Ltd, he was content getting placed in a renowned company. It was just a first step towards his career and soon he started getting job offers from MNCs. Though he was confident and capable enough to grab every opportunity, the major roadblock which he faced while getting a new job was not being a post-graduate.
Eventually he discovered about Amity Online, which served as a boon for his professional life. He was looking for an online program that could offer flexible learning with industry-ready programs, and that’s exactly what he got at Amity in the year 2010. He enrolled in online MBA with an aim to upscale his career growth and he did it with grit.
While pursuing online MBA, he got selected in Aircel with almost a 30% hike in his salary. On completion of his program, he became so capable and qualified that he got recognition from his Human Resource team which offered him promising assignments related to Data Analytics and Management Information Systems.
He adds, “There was a paradigm shift on the approach for problem solving and strategic thinking. I started worked in all assignments by assessing risks and opportunities, and then planning for the assignment. All this resulted in ease of execution".
“I started working from an unstructured manner to a structured mechanism after my online MBA. The major transformation that I got in my career was a getting a break in one of the Big Four consulting firms, where I was a consultant in the government and public sector, working on different projects in Smart City domain. Currently I work with Deloitte in an assignment with Ministry of Urban Development. All this has benefitted me, being an MBA from a top ranked university.”
“Despite being under financial burden, this Gold Medalist never stopped dreaming of completing his education to achieve what he desired to be.”
Jatin Bishnoi making the best out of his life to achieve his passion is what describes his success. Being the sole breadwinner for his family since 2012, he always wanted a Business Management degree.
Jatin was a brilliant student from childhood and wanted to complete his education, but his family’s financial crisis took him to start working at an early age to fulfill the basic needs of his family. His life’s roller-coaster ride began since his childhood when he dropped out from school and took the responsibility of taking care of his family’s finances. As he was under 18, he couldn’t get a decent job despite being quite capable, so he started working at a restaurant at mere 25 cents an hour. When life got him in a slump, he diligently worked for 15 hours a day. But with a passion to turn things around for leading his life with contentment, he gave all his effort and allegiance for preparing for a better-paying job. Though he faced struggle during this time, his determined strength of achieving it finally paid off, and he grabbed a job opportunity at Wipro.
Somewhere in his mind, he silently nurtured his entrepreneurial dreams. His interest & determination made him choose a BBA program through correspondence. Then he decided to pursue further education from Amity as it offered him a flexible career-ready online program, which enabled him to fit his study time around his work and life commitments.
Constantly working incredibly hard for a better career, he never lost hope and it reflected in his results. It was his dedication and efforts towards his studies that made him the Gold Medalist of his batch (January 2012). He was the only one who was honoured for his projects at his workplace too. He became more confident of his capabilities and got closer to his dream of bringing excellent education in an affordable way to those who need it the most.
He continued growing in his personal and professional life. Today, he is placed in a renowned Institute called Pune Institute of Business Management where is working as a Senior Trainer, Business Communication and Soft Skills.
Ravi always wanted his life to be noteworthy. As a child, he was told, “You’re going to do great things”. These “great things” became the guiding factor of all of his decisions. He would look through other people’s pictures who were settled abroad and wanted his life to be as exciting, if not more, than theirs.
Ravi entered the corporate world after completing B.Tech from JNTU, Hyderabad. He later joined Infotech Enterprise Ltd, now known as Cyient. Although he continued working in Cyient for almost a decade, he knew he needed to add something more to his resume.
He searched for programs on the Internet and came across several reputable names. He quickly recognized that his need of enhancing his knowledge and skills would be fulfilled by pursuing MBA. Ravi says that when he was looking up the internet, he was unable to find any program that offers as much flexibility as Amity Distance Learning. So he enrolled for Amity Executive MBA and graduated in the year 2015.
He says, “It’s easy to dismiss our authentic voices for ones that tell us to achieve, pursue, obtain, attain — but clarity of heart and of purpose tends to get buried deep within us and are only heard after intensive excavation.”
Ravi was fortunate enough to secure a perfect opportunity at Australia’s largest telecom infrastructure company, Solution Architect. He worked there for 2 years and moved on to his current organization, General Electric.
Living abroad is a unique opportunity for him to try new places, to feel adventurous and experience things unknown, to be a foreigner and everything that entails. It is definitely difficult to leave an established life in one place for a place unknown but he needed to take this risk.
Ravi says, “Amity Executive MBA program really helped give me an international edge with best-in-class professors and classmates. An MBA degree from Amity Online Learning was definitely a stepping stone in my career. My knowledge of financial and commercial aspects of IT management and marketing has improved, and I am now able to inspire many other people by my career journey.”
“Who you are tomorrow begins with who you are today.” – Tim Fargo
As Sumit walks up to his office wishing people good morning on his way, he recalls how great and simple life was in childhood. His joint family gave him a secure, lively, and extraordinary upbringing. With a banker father, homemaker mother, brothers, sisters, and countless uncles and aunts, it felt like a party every day. Even the tea-time was filled with a myriad of laughter and play-time. The dining table would be set up for various people with different varieties of cuisines and guests to welcome almost daily. This is the reason he grew up to be an outspoken and extrovert person. He was good at sports, public speaking, and had entrepreneurship qualities in him since the beginning.
Now, many years later, he is a partner in an HR consulting firm. He uses his entrepreneurial skills, extrovert nature, and bright personality to hire desired employees for various organizations. But it wasn’t not always like that, for Sumit originally started as a sales and marketing professional.
If Sumit hadn’t entered the field of human resource management, he wouldn’t be a partner of a leading firm today. He would be simply doing sales and marketing tasks and following instructions and goals set by someone else.
When Sumit graduated, he started with sales and marketing with FCS Software. He received a bag full of opportunities to prove his innovative thinking by marketing software solutions back during 1996–1998. It was a time when technology was just taking over and many people were highly opposing the notion.
Sumit cracked his first deal with Britannia Industry and instantly became the star performer of FCS Software. Because of his outspoken and people skills, he was given an offer to set his foot into international recruiting.
“It was a lot like sales as you have to sell people the organization and buy the skills which generate revenue for the organization.”
Although Sumit always had it in him, this career turn was extremely uplifting and a unique experience. There was a brief moment when he had thought to himself, “What if it doesn’t work?” “What if I fail?” But his manager, also his mentor, encouraged him to take up the job.
Sumit has worked with various industry giants such as Accenture, Ericsson, vCustomer, HCL, and Nortel Networks. With every new place, a new set of environment sprouted and he learned something new about the domain. It was an education rather than work experience for him, and this was all to prepare him for his own endeavours.
Life was a true roller-coaster ride and once he almost missed his first wedding anniversary. However, he met his designated targets and made it on time to meet his wife. This was the time when Sumit was sent to Vietnam for a project as he was taking care of the entire Asian region of the company. In his 2 months’ posting in Vietnam, he reported directly to the Global Recruitment Head of Nortel Networks. While all this sounds pretty amazing, the language barriers and working in a different country made it all extremely difficult for Sumit. That is when he managed to provide the best resources before time. He was motivated to work harder and deliver before time. When he reached home, it was a celebration of not only his union with his wife but also his success at the job.
People at Ericsson are still in touch with him because he left a simply unforgettable impression. He was asked to design recruiting shared services and RPO model, which resulted in 300% business growth in just 18 months. His achievements were highly appreciated and even today, he is remembered at Ericsson for his sharp mind and remarkable working capabilities.
“It is often a belief that the resource management team of any company is an extra burden that does not yield any ROI. However, over years, I have realized that this sector is, in fact, the most valuable. If you don’t have quality employees, you can’t deliver quality work, which means lower ROI. Organizations that ignore the power of best-fit employee recruitment end up regretting their choices.”
Currently, Sumit is working as a partner in an HR consulting and strategic recruitment firm. He misses his 9-to-5 work schedule, but he is also happy that his business gives him reason to achieve more. He is handling the responsibility of CXO, is a mentor to his team, and is guiding his company to the zenith of success. One thing that he loves about his profession now is the ability to make his decisions.
He trusts the capabilities of Amity Online, which is why his daughter is now a part of our family. She also, like her father, has strong leadership qualities and zeal to achieve success in life.
“Amity is a fountainhead of knowledge and development and I strongly believe that my Master’s Degree at Amity University laid the foundation for my growth and success in life. I am especially indebted to Avinash sir, who has been like a mentor and guru through thick and thin even beyond academics.”
We are sure, even Avinash Sir remembers a bright student like Sumit. In fact, the whole Amity Family will remember Sumit. After all, he is one of our best alumni.
“A drop of inspiration straight from a public motivational speaker and remarkable professional.”
Who would have thought that distance education could instill confidence in you and enable you to make the right decisions? Imran is a motivational public speaker, keynote speaker, and a business trainer. He completed his PG training and development from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai and MBA from Amity University Online. Imran is truly an extraordinary professional as he paved his way through various corporates, including Askme.com, Paytm Payments Bank, HT Media Limited, etc.
Imran’s interest in business studies was sprouted when he was studying at the University of Exeter. He wanted to explore every subject to broaden his area of knowledge and understanding. So he joined the online MBA program from Amity.
During his early days of employment, Imran used to carry out market surveys and analyze huge amounts of statistical data to enable better decision making. His MBA from Amity Online helped him develop skills that were necessary to construct questionnaires, manage time, evaluate things, and handle all the above activities.
In Imran’s own words, “An MBA offers you a wealth of advantages, especially when it's offered by a top business school with a very good reputation. Getting a higher salary after graduation, landing a top management position, or even becoming your own boss are advantages that MBA provides.”
“His determination to seek opportunities to learn and grow has made him a successful person.”
Being from a small town (Jaunpur), Akhilesh had always been curious and enthusiastic about exploring and learning things that we’ve never seen or experienced before.
A constant hunger for success, inspiration, diligence and persistence is the hallmark for success for people from smaller towns, where glamour may be lacking but the quieter and gentler way of life and the desire to hang on to local roots are assets in their own right.
Akhilesh Yadav is a Cluster Manager today in a very renowned Bajaj Allianz General Insurance Company, but it’s really hard to believe his journey of success that started a few years ago.
He knew it was time for a new challenge when he completed his graduation, but with an aim to turn his dream into reality, he started looking for further education: something which would offer him the flexibility to study and manage his work duties at the same time. It was not an easy decision for him to move away from the comfort and warmth of his family to start building something from scratch.
Though he had potential and a powerful skillset, getting good opportunities in the healthcare sector, which he always desired, was very challenging. One day his nephew suggested him to enroll for MBA in Finance from Amity Distance Learning as it would bring a lot of industry opportunities in future. While pursuing online MBA from Amity, everything fell in place and he got an on-roll job as a Public Profile Manager.
However, drive and determination are what led him to success and his journey to achieve what he is today proves that. With 6.5 years of experience in the healthcare sector, he has learned to be adaptable to everyday changes.
“They say it’s all about your hidden talent, and if you nurture it well, opportunities come knocking at your door.”
Almost a decade back, Gurpreet commenced his career with a B.Com (Hons) degree. It was the time when the concept of distance education and online learning was not known to many people. However, Gurpreet wanted to pursue MBA without leaving his job, which brought him to Amity University Online.
Gurpreet recalled how, while completing his MBA, he received an amazing opportunity at Genpact. He was asked to join in as an Assistant Manager. When he talked to his peers, friends, and family, everyone was shocked to hear about the offer, as he only had 3 years of work experience. He quotes, “I proudly tell everyone that my distance MBA education got me this position.”
We believe dreams come true when you make them happen and this is what happened with Gurpreet. The decision of enrolling into online MBA not only enabled him to gain knowledge of business intricacies but also helped him receive an impeccable job offer. He says that his analytical skills, troubleshooting skills, and capabilities as a team player were enhanced to a great degree.
“Education always helps you gain trust and respect,” he says.
“The right education instilled confidence and positive attitude in Rohit and his personality became professionally attractive.”
Being a relationship manager at a known organization like Karl Bucks and setting up his own optical business was a big step for Rohit. However, he never wanted leave education for work. He understood the significance of gaining proper business knowledge. Hence, Rohit pursued his B.Com from Amity University Online, which helped him to enhance business knowledge, complete his graduation, and evaluate business intricacies.
Rohit is from Indore but his family shifted to Agra when he was in 5th standard, where he completed the rest of his schooling. Although Rohit initially entered the Science stream, his lack of interest in the stream led him to pursue Commerce. After completing his high school in 2013, Rohit didn’t feel like joining college as he had interest in starting his business venture. So he turned towards Amity University Online for completing his graduation.
Just like any other extraordinary student, Rohit also had extraordinary interests, which directed him to Karl Bucks in 2014–15. While he had interest in the finance field, he knew his destiny would take him towards managing his own business. However, his father was adamant about Rohit joining his dairy business. Rohit refused to give up, so his father helped him start an optical business.
They say it is not only about the education you receive or the talent you harbor, it is about how much you help people with this gift of yours. Rohit wants to give something back to the society by starting an employment program wherein he could teach people from backward and weaker sections of the society. He wants to help them fully understand the optical industry so that they can shine on their own.
This is not it. Rohit is also working on an app that will help people decide what type of eyewear they can buy based on budget, eyewear design, quality, choice of lens, etc. An amazing fact is that Rohit is funding this project with his part-time finance job at Karl Bucks.
He says, “I am a very stubborn person and unstoppable until I get work done. I am an opportunity seeker and always want to get into different things. I am the type of person who would always take the road less travelled.”
He further told us, “My professional career grew well, and this online B.Com program from Amity helped me a great deal. When you are connected to such a university, it brings a natural change in your personality and makes your thinking positive.”

We often associate quitting with failure. But for Satabdi, quitting was an opportunity. While Satabdi is doing great in her life right now, she dropped out of college because she did not have interest in engineering. Back then, she was pursuing B.Tech in Telecommunications from Bangalore. There are many risks one takes in leaving education, but her lack of interest in the field was too big to ignore. So she convinced her parents to continue following her instincts.
After dropping out of college, Satabdi started working with Firstsource Solutions as a Senior Customer Associate to get some hands-on experience and to find a direction in life. During this time, she switched to various job roles in sales, administration and even operations. While she was performing well and got promoted as a Real-Time Analyst, she always felt a void because she did not have a certified Bachelor’s degree, which also made it difficult for her to get better professional roles. Hence, she joined BBA from Amity Online to complete her graduation.
After the completion of her graduation, Satabdi was able to acquire better job roles. She got through job interviews with good profiles and was overall able to boost her confidence. The graduation program from Amity Online brought a positive change in Satabdi’s personality and she felt more secure about her future. Satabdi didn’t stop there, and went on to pursue her Masters from Alliance University, Bangalore.
She secured 82% in her graduation program from Amity Online, which further enabled her to achieve better prospects in her work life. She was such an amazing employee that she got a job at Hinduja Global Solutions. After leaving this job, in 2018, she finally joined Accenture as a Network Operations Analyst.
Satabdi says, “After completing my graduation from Amity Online, I feel much more secure in my professional life.”
“When I told my mother about the job offer I had received after graduation, a tear rolled down her eyes and she instantly hugged me. It was euphoric, and it felt good to see my mother happy.”
Shiv’s mother and father come from a Punjabi family that resided in Pakistan pre-independence. When they reached India, the family settled in Delhi. His father got a job in railways while his mother was a homemaker. They had a small, loving family but the worst was set to happen.
Since Shiv’s childhood, his father worked really hard to provide quality education to both his children. However, when Shiv was in 8th class, his father passed away. He had kidney stones and was admitted to a government hospital. Here he underwent an operation but succumbed to death after the surgery.
Sadness doomed over Shiv as he recalled the moment – watching his father lying on the bed, not being able to talk or move, and his mother crying. It was a gloomy day and life didn’t turn out well after his father left them.
The whole family was shaken, his younger brother stopped eating, and his mother couldn’t comprehend how she would manage family expenses. One day, Shiv came back home to hear the news that he is being shifted to a government school, as the family didn’t have enough funds to support his education. And the school authority at his private school was not willing to cooperate or offer him a scholarship.
However, the situation didn’t remain the same. After one year of struggle and living on the money provided by relatives, Shiv’s mother finally got a job at Railways since his father was a government servant.
The biggest hurdle in his personal life, which also affected him professionally, was when Shiv’s family was asked to move out of the house. At that time in India, joint family culture was most famous. People used to have big families with everyone living together, cooking together, and eating together under the same roof. Shiv’s family used to stay with his uncle and he asked them to move out of his house, which in a way gave Shiv and his family a chance to live independently. They faced multiple troubles to buy a house and took numerous small loans from various people.
He had decided to support his mother the day Shiv’s father passed away. Even after being shifted to a government school, he managed to take Science stream and get into a good Delhi University college. However, Shiv couldn’t wait for another 3 to 4 years to support his family so he opted for evening education instead. In the daytime, he started working with his uncle to help his mother.
When Shiv passed out of the college, it was the same time when computers were on the stage of changing the world. Every task was being carried out manually in the organizations and automation of the same was required. He jumped at the opportunity and joined Calcom, a Delhi-based company as an Accounts and IT Executive. His team was handed over the task of automation and he found an opportunity to learn. Since they were starting from the scratch, he gained deep knowledge of how technology works.
When Shiv walked into his next company, Godfrey Phillips India Ltd, nobody had thought that he would become the AGM for Supply Chain of this organization. Because of his impeccable analytical skills, he was offered the responsibility of MIS (management information system) as well as IT operations. Shiv worked for 9 years at this position before being promoted to Regional Manager – Finance, Admin, and IT. By 2015, he was working as the Head of Logistics and Finished Goods under Supply Chain.
“There is no shortcut to success and only hard work will lead you to the path of fulfilment. If you have passion, patience, and endurance, nothing can stop you from being who you want to become.”
After joining the corporate world, Shiv realized the importance of educational qualification. He talked to his HR manager and they decided to fund Shiv’s MBA education, which gave him a chance to become a part of Amity family. He completed his MBA in Finance and International Businesses and soon after, he was promoted to the position of Regional Manager.
“Amity has nurtured me in many ways and taught me on both the fronts i.e professional as well as personal. I was always inspired to do the best and become a better human being.”

Sandeep started his career in 2012. Till date, he has worked with four different companies and has gained a rich experience of handling accounts.
Sandeep wanted to empower his education with better learning. He was thinking of pursuing a regular MBA but could not do so due to some constraints. Then he saw advertisements of Amity Online and went through its prospectus for online MBA.
He liked the course curriculum and instantly took up the program. He has some wonderful experiences to share in this regard. He was surprised to see the impact of the program in his career when he got a hike in his salary from Rs. 14,000 to Rs. 18,000 per month. Sandeep states that his manager might have thought that he may switch jobs for a better salary and, hence, increased his salary without even discussing.
MBA helped Sandeep to groom himself as a professional with good communication skills. He feels a lot more secured in his career and now has moved on to a much better job profile. He believes that online learning is picking up fast in terms of value and weightage. All the employers give preference to candidates who are well-qualified, well-spoken and confident about themselves.
Sandeep also feels that there is no discrimination between the regular and distance learning MBA graduates at work. If you are good at your job, there is nothing stopping you from achieving great success in your professional life.
